Idgie Crowley
I
recently helped Idgie, Tucker’s friend and hospital
companion to Cat Heaven. She came to me as a new mom
of 6 kittens when I was an intern at Angell Memorial
back in 1993.
She was a tough street cat and really became such
a wonderful friend. I had named her after Idgie Threadgoode,
a favorite character from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes.
She came to live here at BANHC when getting around
at home became difficult. She really struck gold as
she then had several people ( and Tucker ) to be with
her so many more hours than I was able to at home.
She always kept Tucker in line and loved getting turkey
at lunch courtesy of Dr. Ricketts. She had beat hyperthyroidism
thanks to Dr Woolfson, had a battle with mammary cancer
that she won and handled her age very gracefully.
Idgie received a Reiki treatment before I euthanized
her, which was a wonderful gift that I could give her
at the end. Happy memories will always be with me.
Zooey
Gordon
This photo was taken just an hour or so before zooey
passed away today- crossed over to the land of endless
balls of yarn, trees to climb,
luggage to pee in and catnip to gnaw on...
She was well over 15 years old when she died, and lived
for a long time (over a year) with chronic renal failure...she
was danielle's first kitty
as an "adult", her first fuzzy-non-human-baby,
and became jon's lovebug.
We miss her already but know that she's in a happier
less painful place where she doesn't have to share us
with 3
other cats... Give yer felines (and canines) a big hug tonight or tomorrow---silly
lovable beasts...
Bully Reardon
Here is the picture of Bully. It is our
favorite because it looks like he is smiling.
I can't even express my gratitude to you and Dr. Ricketts
for the love and support this week AND to you especially
over the years with Bully. He had a great life partially
due to your care and expertise! Without you meeting him
that day on the ball field, he probably would have still
been on steroids or dead a long time ago. He was so special
to us and he will be missed greatly, but it was clear it
was his time and he went peacefully, which is all we could
ask for.
