The Whole Pet

News and Tips from Beverly Animal Natural Health Center

New! Digital Dental Xray Unit

The new digital dental xray unit has been great! We have been able to cut down on anesthesia time for our patients as well as getting great films of teeth. If you are interested in checking out some films to show examples of periodontal disease, please ask! We are all very excited about the unit and it helps enhance the education of periodontal disease and the effects on our pets.

With our new website, we hope to have video to show you how to brush your pet’s teeth.

If asked, what can I do to enhance the quality of my pet’s life; exercise, good diet and brushing their teeth are definitely my top three.

Office Updates

This is hopefully going to be the final newsletter with our old website format. I have been working with our web designer to get some new updates to the website to make it even more user friendly and helpful to you, our clients.

Telephone Issues

Over the last month, we have been experiencing voicemail problems with Verizon.  We apologize for any inconvenience and are trying to get Verizon to fix the problem once and for all.  If you do call and get “Welcome to Verizon messaging service,” please just dial the clinic number again and you will be able to leave a voicemail.  We try to respond as quickly as we can to your message.  Be sure to always leave a phone number where you can be reached.

The Baci Ball Fund

The Baci Ball Fund was created to honor the joie de vie that Baci Ball, a feisty orange long haired diabetic cat had his entire life.  The fund was set up over five years ago by his owner Lynda Errichetti.  Like him, she had a great enthusiasm for life and was such a classy lady.

On November 7th, she passed away in New York after a battle with cancer.  The fund is there to help cats ( and dogs) that need care that may not be financially attainable by their owners.

If you would like to donate to the fund in honor of both of them, please contact the office or send a check to BANHC with a note for Baci Ball Fund.

They are reunited in heaven along with Frankie, Baci’s brother that also passed earlier this year.

Please reuse/recycle/renew!

Chico BagThe BANHC Chico Bags have all been passed out to clients!  We do hope you are enjoying them and are kicking the single use plastic bag habit.  If you are interested in telling a friend about Chico Bags or using more bags yourself, additional bags are available for sale at the clinic.  They are available in a variety of colors.  All sales are to benefit Mia and Amy’s school, North Shore Christian School of Lynn.  The bags are five dollars each.

Just like her school, BANHC is going as green as possible.  We have significantly reduced the paper towel use as well as recycling all our plastics, paper and cardboard.  We hope to have even more enhancements in the future.

Although it is not a direct comparison, I would like to bring up my hopes that more and more people CHOOSE to adopt dogs and cats at shelters rather than pet stores and breeders.  Many pets are given up due to negligence, convenience, ignorance, and other factors.  Please think about giving pets a second chance as they wait in shelters for some one to take them home.

Similar to some of the wasteful habits we have fallen in to, we can make a change by making different choices.  Yes there are certain characteristics we desire in a pet (any mate!) but we all know that that can be a bit of a challenge some times.  Many local shelters have very thorough intake forms and history on their animals.  They often have extensive waiting lists of many trained pets waiting for new homes.

If you are looking for a new pet, here are some things to consider:

Consider looking into pet insurance if you are interested in a pet.  It really needs to be purchased even before you get the pet to us.  For more information, check out www.embracepetinsurance.com.  They also have some comparison info on their site.  While pet insurance is not for everyone, it is definitely something worth looking into if you have the discretionary income.
